Paint Tool SAI Grass Brush Set by jincon Paint Tool SAI Grass Brush Set by jincon
It was very hard for me to draw grass in paint tool SAI (drawing one blade at a time SUCKS). I looked everywhere for a decent brush set and was disappointed each time I came across a good one, only to find it was meant for photoshop. So I decided to make my own grass brush set that would mimic those great photoshop brushes. This makes drawing grasses much more fluid and less time consuming, and it looks better too.  Experiment with "edge hardness" setting and with "blending" on and off for different results.  Download immediately. Enjoy.

Great but it can't open the config folder. Can't you just give us the settings of the brush?

I did as said with the box checking and etc. but the brush lines aren't sharp like your preview? It's all round tipped...=n=

All the sharp ones are done with regular brush tip (simple circle/ size box checked).  All I did was add a handful of regular brush strokes to fill in those odd few blades of grass that grow in another direction, kind of like when there's crabgrass growing. I do that to add some variety so everything will look more natural and less like a uniform set of brush strokes.

I added some instructions and a screenshot of my brush settings to the zip file to make things easier for everybody.  I also made another brush set --> chisel brush

i have a quick question, where can you download paint tool sai? I can't find any one site that seems very "official", and I don't want viruses. Thanks :)

Okay so after the first comment i'll explain a bit more.. I set it to 0, I did everything you suggested, and I even have a tablet. I'm still not getting the proper results.. I'm guessing it's a matter of stroke technique rather than just doing the strokes as usual, and i'm guessing you have to do a single stroke in a couple of places or more to get a better resulting product without making the WHOLE thing one stroke at a time... So technically it requires effort and consistancy, and I suggest you should just play around with it till you get the technique desired to get the results shown above in the picture.

Okay so.. this is supposed to turn out like you showed us on the picture. Well it's not for me, all it's doing is copying the technique of the bristle setting.. to get what you're doing i STILL have to do a smaller brush size and ONE stroke at a time... Otherwise this isn't working like you said it should. Shouldn't it just make the grass itself instead of ONE stroke at a time like you explained because i repeat, it's not, it's just another bristle-type setting for me.

Hi! So I did everything as explained but I don't think it shows up? I looked in the brush shape drop down menu and there is no grass 1, grass 2, or grass 3. I just installed a different brush, same process and it works fine. I'm just really confused, help me please. Am I just looking the wrong place?

Nope, not sai.  You need to be logged in as administrator on your computer.  Your OS is not letting you alter files in the folder that sai is saved in.

Hello! Sorry for the late reply!
No problem at all, it looks a little tricky but it's basically just copy/paste. English isn't my first language either but I'm gonna try and explain it a little better for you :)
It's like this, when you download and extract the brushes, there will be 3 items: an "elemap" folder, "brushform" text document and a jpeg image (that doesn't matter to do this). What you have to do now is copy all the files in the "elemap" folder and paste them in the elemap folder that you can find in your paint tool sai folder (lotsa folders hehe). Now with the brushforms you have to be a little more careful: open the brushform text file and copy the text inside, go to your paint tool sai folder and find the brushform CONF file. Double-click it and open it with Notepad, paste the text you copied and save it. And that should do the trick ^^
If you still have any questions, just ask and I'll try to answer <3

I did this word for word, and I still don't have the brushes in my SAI.
Any ideas why this didn't work? :/
