Paint Tool SAI Grass Brush Set by jincon Paint Tool SAI Grass Brush Set by jincon
It was very hard for me to draw grass in paint tool SAI (drawing one blade at a time SUCKS). I looked everywhere for a decent brush set and was disappointed each time I came across a good one, only to find it was meant for photoshop. So I decided to make my own grass brush set that would mimic those great photoshop brushes. This makes drawing grasses much more fluid and less time consuming, and it looks better too.  Experiment with "edge hardness" setting and with "blending" on and off for different results.  Download immediately. Enjoy.

Using your brushes and instructions:
I don't understand how you are supposed to be able to draw lines with varying thickness if you have "pressure controlled size" off?
Is your tablet able to bypass the settings in Sai and still produce lines with variable thickness?
I am using a Wacom Bamboo, do I need an Intuos?
If I select "pressure controlled size", then my lines start out as a point, and as I press down, they flare out into multiple lines, only to taper back into a point again when I release pressure, resulting in a pointed ellipse which doesn't look like grass, but more like a leaf.
Let me know if I am missing a step here if you can please.
Thanks.

Yes I keep pressure controlled size off and I sprinkle a couple of regular brush strokes with a normal single strand to hide the grass brush pattern. It gives the grass a look of natural chaos. So yeah keep pressure controlled size off and when ur done drawing ur basic grass pattern go back in with a regular brush and add a few strands of random lines of varying thickness and height. That's the trick.

no matter what settings or brushes i use it just looks like ragged lines with round tips. this "sample picture" looks nothing like what you can do with this. it was a real disappointment.

is it this particular brush?
- or do all your brushes work that way, i had this problem once
place stabilizer on high with the min brush size slider to zero

This only works with a tablet and the brush setting has to have pressure controlled size off and pressure controlled density on. I use this brush all the time no prob. Check out my background pic in the gallery.

I've followed the install instruction but it doesn't work. Does this require the official version? Mine is a crack version.

Hey man, these brushes are fantastic! Though I've been having trouble getting the "grass 3" to actually come up in sai along with the others. I can get the 1 and 2 and I set them up all the same, so I don't know... Any Idea what I could do?

I did as said with the box checking and etc. but the brush lines aren't sharp like your preview? It's all round tipped...=n=

All the sharp ones are done with regular brush tip (simple circle/ size box checked).  All I did was add a handful of regular brush strokes to fill in those odd few blades of grass that grow in another direction, kind of like when there's crabgrass growing. I do that to add some variety so everything will look more natural and less like a uniform set of brush strokes.
